On October 17, ProfessorMark A.Jobling from the University of Leicester and his academicians visitedour university, as part of the 2018 World-Renowned Scientists’ Lecture Programin Hubei.

Prof. Jobling wasappointed as HUM’s Honorary Professor and were presented with the Certificateof Appointment by vice President Yan Shirong. In attendance to the welcoming ceremonywere key members of the Department of Science & Technology, Graduate School,School of Basic Medical Sciences, Department of International Relations, andthe faculties from the relevant academic departments. President Yan Shirong gavea brief introduction to HUM and discussed with professors on the issue of teachers’training, student exchanges,  and cooperative scientific research etc. Later Prof. Jobling and his academicians visited the Biomedical ResearchInstitute, the Life Science Museum and the Clinical Skills Center.

During their stay in HUM,Prof. Jobling and his colleague Dr. Cherukonathu V. Pradeep conducted twoacademic reports on the subjects of Medical Genetics & Genomics andClinical Genetics Services in UK, and nearly 500 teachers and students attendedto the lecture.

“World-Renowned ScientistLectures Program in Hubei” is a program sponsored by Hubei ProvincialDepartment of Education, which aims to further expand the internationalexchanges and cooperations of higher education in Hubei Province, and to broadenthe international horizon of the teachers and students. In recent years, HUM hasfocused on the development of “Double First-class" construction and thedevelopment of teaching and research, and invited many academicians includingNobel Prize winner and world influential scientists with leading academicachievement worldwide to carry out lectures, which greatly enhanced theuniversity’s development in scientific research and teaching  improvement.
