On the evening of May 18 2019, “Silk Road and One family” Awarding Ceremony of International CulturalFestival of Hubei University of Medicine was held in the Multi-function Hall onthe 5th floor of Teaching Building No. 8. Tu Hanjun, CPC Secretary of the University,Prof. Ruan Xuzhi, Dean of the Graduate School, teachers, and all the staff ofthe School of International Education gathered with more than 400 internationalstudents from 24 countries to enjoy the feast of multicultural integration.
CPC Secretary Tuaddressed a warm opening speech for the party. In his speech, he expressed hiscongratulation on the “Silk Road One Family” Awarding Ceremony. He suggestedthat the school should open wider to the outside world, expand the enrollmentscale of international students, and take the countries along the Belt and Roadas the main places to recruit international student. He encouraged students toimprove their Chinese proficiency level, strengthen exchanges with Chinese studentsand students from other countries, and pay attention to the safety during theirstudy in China. The school will provide necessary guarantee for their study andlife in school.
The Awarding Ceremony wasa combination of three themes: welcoming new students, sending off interns, summarizingand commending. The international dress style show brought by internationalstudents from 11 countries, such as India, Ghana and Pakistan, kicked off theshow. The show performances of Chinese teachers of international students andall the staff of the School of International Education ignited the enthusiasmof the audience.
The Party commended thestudents who won awards in various competitions and activities in academic year2018-2019, and awarded nine awards, such as the Hubei government scholarshipfor international students, University scholarship, the school level “Ten StarCivilized Dormitory” and the “Spring Bud” Culture Festival Award. Mukul andKabeyu spoke on behalf of 2018 international freshmen and interns respectively.
Chinese and Internationalstudents presented wonderful performances. The dynamic hip-hop dance, theamazing bollywood dance in India, and the charming duet make us feel exotic. Inmy song, You and me, Voice Enlightenment and other Chinesesongs won applause as well. Martial Art Wind performed by the martialarts team and Wind, flowers, snow and moon brought by Hanjiang ChaowenSociety and Calligraphy and Painting Association enchanted all the audience andpushed the whole party to the climax.
At the end of the Party,there was a farewell ceremony for interns. With the music of Auld Lang Syne,39 international students from 2014 Batch and the teachers said goodbye,marking a warm and complete end of the party.
This Evening Party showsthe positive spirit and multi-cultural features of international students inour university, deepens the understanding, trust and friendship between Chineseand international students, and provides a good platform for the communicationand integration of Chinese and foreign cultures.
