Nursing TREND Webinar jointly organized by ALCNS, NUS with HUST and HUM

NUS Nursing TREND Webinar (Chinese) on Nurse-led Chronic Illness Management in the Community was successfully held on Feb 26, 2022.

Initiated by Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (ALCNS), National University of Singapore, this episode conducted in Chinese is jointly organized with Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Hubei University of Medicine. Prof. Wang Wenru from ALCNS presided over the webinar. Prof. Emily Ang, Head of ALCNS, delivered a welcome speech, followed by lectures presented by four speakers from ALCNS, HUST, and HUM. More than 3300 participants were involved in the webinar, with the attendance of about 100 HUM nursing faculty and students.

Focusing on the research of Nurse-led Chronic Illness Management in the Community, professor Wang Wenru, introduced Singapore's "patient-centered" integrated medical care model and community chronic disease management in Singapore.

Li Jie, associate professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, shared her topic on Multidimensional Fraity and its Association with Quality of Life and Disability among Community-Dwelling Older Adults, and discussed the relationship between multidimensional weakness and life quality and disability of the elderly.

Associate professor Zhu Shuzhen from HUM shared her research on 5 + 1 community diabetes phased management and the application for automated insulin dose calculation based on mobile health design.

Vivien Wu Xi, Assistant professor of ALCNS NUS and candidate for the sigma 2022 emerging nurse researcher scholar award, presented her Community-based e-Health Program (CeHP) from the perspectives of data collection procedure, Results Indicator measurement, test and feedback.

After the presentation, the participating teachers and students had a heated discussion on the development of the senior care industries and the future development trend of community care. Prof. Wang Wenru concluded the webinar and hoped that the nursing researchers and educators would devote more research to chronic diseases and put forward more solutions to health care for the aging population worldwide.

This webinar is the first step of academic exchange under the framework of the MoA between ALCNS, NUS with HUM since 2021. More cooperative academic interactions in the nursing field will be moved forward in the future.
