On the morning of August 19th, the opening ceremony for the first International Summer School Programwas successfully held at Hubei University of Medicine.University President Prof. WangYunfu, Vice President Prof. Yan Shirong, heads of relevant departments, and 32 delegatesfrom Ethiopia and Kazakhstan participated in the opening ceremony.
President Wang Yunfu delivered a welcome speech. Firstly he reviewed the long history of friendship between China and the two countries, and stressed the event of the establishmentof the partnership with Wollega University and Kazakhstan’s Medical University “KSPH”. He commented that the International Summer School Program, as a mark of a good beginning of the cooperation, would further facilitate extensive and in-depth cooperation in the field of medical education.
Dr. Hasen Yusuf Mohammed, President of Wollega University, delivered a speech. He said the purpose of their visit to Hubei University of Medicine is to officiate the MoU signed with HUM five months ago, which aimed at encouraging both universities to initiatecollaborative activities in the areas of education, scientific research,enhancing international understanding, promoting academic collaborations,facilitating cultural exchange, and deepening friendship between the sisterly universities. He looked forward to collaborative activities in areas of education, scientific research, bringing welfare to the people of both countries.
Ms.Sarsembayeva Dana, Acting Director of International Cooperation Department of Kazakstan’sMedical University a “KSPH”delivereda speech. She mentioned that the contacts between Kazakhstan and China have deep historical roots. Kazakhstan and China are neighbors who share long-term friendship and partnership.She hoped that the visit wouldmake a great impression on them and expand the boundaries of our cooperation.
The Summer School Program will last for one week. The participants will take part inacademic exchanges, join the scientific research platforms, visit the University and its affiliated hospitals, practice Wudang martial arts, and experience the unique history andculture of Shiyan.
