On the afternoon of Nov. 18th, Hubei University of Medicine(“HUM” hereafter) and Manchester Metropolitan University (“MMU” hereafter) successfully held the signing ceremony of theMemorandum of Understanding. Professor Yan Shirong, Vice President of HUM,attended the ceremony. The meeting was co-chaired by Ms. Yang Hui, Director of Department of International Relations, and Dr. Zhang Yong, General Manager of MMU China Office in Wuhan. Professor Jenny Watling, Pro Vice Chancellor International, Professor Alison Chambers, Pro Vice Chancellor, Faculty of Health and Education and the colleagues on MMU side attended the meeting online.Mr. Gareth Hoar, British Consul General in Wuhan, accompanied by Mr. ZhangChao, Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Shiyan Municipal Government,attended the signing ceremony at HUM and witnessed the cooperation between thetwo institutions.
At the beginning of the signing ceremony, Professor Yan Shirong and Professor Jenny Watling delivered welcome speeches and made general introductions to each university, followed by a statement from Mr. Gareth Hoar,British Consul General in Wuhan. Later, Professor Mark Hayter, Head of Nursing of MMU and Professor Cheng Li, Vice Dean of School of Nursing, HUM, overviewed their nursing programs respectively. Finally, Vice President Yan Shirong and Vice President Jenny Watling signed the Memorandum of Understanding and madeclosing comments on behalf of the two universities. Both sides expressed high expectations for the cooperation and stated that they would seize the chance toadvance nursing cooperation by working together to strengthen mutual learningand exchange in order to develop a more comprehensive collaboration acrossseveral fields and levels.
