At the invitation of Hubei University of Medicine (HUM), Mr. Alexandros Molasiotis, Chair Professor of Nursing, Head of Nursing School, as well as Director of WHO Collaborating Centre for Community Health Services, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, delivered a lecture via Zoom to more than 100 HUM nursing faculty and students in the afternoon of Mach 31. The lecture is hosted by Ms. Yanghui, director of International Relations Department.
Focusing on the topicManaging Symptoms in Cancer Care: What Have We Learnt So Far From Qualitative Research, Prof. Alexandros Molasiotisstarted his lecture by sharing some of his own qualitative research papers on symptoms in cancer patients, narrated two commonly used symptom-related theories of unpleasant symptom theory and symptom management theory, and then explained the tools and methods of symptom assessment, following by the explanation of the concept of symptom clusters and related research progress. The lecture benefits HUM faculty and students with the latest nursing developments and frontiers and strengthens academic tieseven in the midst of the COVID-19 epidemic.
As part of the 2022 World-Renowned Expert Lectureship Program funded by Hubei Provincial Department of Education, Prof. Alexandros Molasiotisand his team members, as well as other professors of the program, will be welcomed and invited later this year to carry out more academic exchanges and share experiences online, as well as explore possibilities for collaboration between the institutions.
