Nursing

School of Nursing

Introduced in 1999, the nursing specialty was approved as the Hubei Distinction Major in 2005, and the National Distinction Major in 2009. In 2010 nursing was approved as a distinctive undergraduate major among the colleges and universities of Hubei province. The nursing major was ratified as the important discipline in Hubei Province and program of “Pilot for Comprehensive Major Reform”. The Nursing School consists of three offices; (administrative office, teaching affairs office and students’ affairs office, 4 teaching bases, 1 department of basic courses and 1 nursing skills center for training and teaching.

The Nursing School has 142 full time faculty, including 11 professors and 44 associate professors. Of the Nursing School Staff 19 have junior titles, 68 are intermediate, 55 are professors, 31 have master's degrees and 1 has a doctorate. In the last 5 years the nursing staff have applied for about 20 scientific provincial level research projects. The Nursing School has published 18 textbooks and, 313 thesis in core journals both in China and overseas. The nursing teachers have also participated in compiling 28 textbook sets.

Being well-equipped, the School has advanced equipments in classroom teaching and practice teaching. The Nursing Skills Center with total area of 3,500 square meters, is equipped with advanced nursing teaching facilities which values about 7.26 million RMB. The Center consists of the Monitoring Room and five functional divisions, including Simulate Operation Room, Simulate Delivery Room, Simulate ICU and CAI Room. Teachers in the Monitoring Room can do real-time monitoring, video recording, audio-visual teaching and viewing and evaluation. Ploycom Remote Video Teaching System enable teachers and students to have remote and video sessions. The advanced and full equipment will meet the requirement of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning and training. It also provides excellent conditions for the continuing education demanded by the clinical nurses and nurses in communities.

The Nursing School has trained nearly 3,000 senior nursing personnel and the employment is remains a consistent 100%.
