Erqi, the second Auto Works (now known as Dongfeng Motor Company Lit), was constructed in 1969. DongfengHospital was then moved to promote the medical development in poverty-stricken areas in the northwest of Hubei Province. Because Dongfeng Hospital was moved, the number 1 Hospital in Wuhan was moved to Shiyan and merged with the 5706 Hospital that was on the construction site for Erqi, thus forming Erqi Zhangwan Hospital. Along with several changes to the name of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, the hospital was renamed after the company’s name, finally receiving its present name; Dongfeng Hospital.
Dongfeng Hospital has endured four decades of trials and hardships but, endeavored to become a large Grade three Class A general hospital with a combination of medical treatment, teaching, research, prevention, care, rehabilitation and first aid. Dongfeng's medical treatment goes to Hubei, Chongqing, Shaanxi, and Henan in the country and city, making it a strong medical center for the 20,000,000 people around the city of Shiyan. Dongfeng Hospital is located in NO.16 Daling Road, Shiyan, Hubei; it covers an area of 85,000 square meters with a construction area of 150,000 square meters.
