The Basic Medicine Institute covers a total area of 1600 meters squared. It is a multidisciplinary research unit covering the disciplines of physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, human anatomy and embryology, pharmacology and other basic disciplines. The Institute mainly deals with major clinical diseases and their intervention treatments, the laws governing gene expressions, molecular immunology, tissue and, cells in biomechanics. The Institute has individual laboratories for experimentation in pathogen immunology, tumor biology, biomechanics, electrophysiology and pharmacology. The Institute also contains a cell culture room, molecular biology laboratory, animal behavior study laboratories and large equipment sharing center; equipped with ZEISS focal microscopes, IVIS Spectrum of small animal imaging system, ABI real-time PCR instrument, patch clamp, fluorescence microscopes, LEICA image analyzer, ultra high-speed refrigerated centrifuge, frozen slicer, MILLIPORE water systems and other large and medium-sized instruments. The Institute is supplemented by the SPF Animal Experiment Center for Research Resources, for carrying out high-level research and providing good training conditions for postgraduates. The Institute is an important scientific research base for teachers, post-doctorates, graduates and university students. It is also a public scientific research base open to the whole university for scientific research and teaching.
