Hubei University of Medicine can offer two first-level discipline Master’s degrees: clinical medicine and basic medicine. It has three major provincial first-level disciplines: clinical medicine, basic medicine and, nursing. Four of our disciplines have obtained the Chutian scholar recognition: surgery, internal medicine, human anatomy, histology and embryology and, anesthesiology. Joint enrollment has covered 44 specialties of 34 second level disciplines.

HUM has one level three laboratory for the State Medical Administration Bureau and three level two laboratories, a leading provincial laboratory that specializes in embryonic stem cell research, a provincial-level clinical research center, a provincial research base for Humanities and Social Sciences, a provincial center for school-enterprise cooperation in R & D, two provincial teaching demonstration centers, a provincial English language learning model center and a university student innovation base. HUM has 15 high level institutes and laboratories for many diverse subjects like basic medicineh, life sciences, reproductive medicine, clinical medicine, organ transplant and liver surgery. HUM has the only SPF animal experiment center, helping to lay a solid foundation for personnel training and technological innovation. In recent years, HUM has been engaged in nearly a thousand research projects, including hosting or participating in 525 national, provincial and, departmental level research projects, 492 articles were cited by SCI, EI, ISTP, of which Prof. Liu Zhongwu’s papers published in Cell Metabolism and Nature drew great attention at home and abroad. 331 textbooks or monographs have been published, 52 prizes at the provincial and ministerial level scientific awards have been presented, 117 research projects were accredited, and 159 patents were awarded.
