The Clinical Medicine Institute was founded in January 2002 with more than four million Yuan invested. The Clinical Medicine Institute opened with 20 sets of new large imported scientific equipment after six months of intense preparation and construction, it was officially opened in August 2002 for research. The Clinical Medicine Institute has a flow cytometry room, molecular biology laboratory, cell culture room, PCR room, bacterial culture room, liquid scintillation counting chamber, ultracentrifugation sample preparation chamber, pathophysiology, laboratory, pathology Immunology, reverse transcription PCR chamber, and a chromatography chamber. The Clinical Medicine Institute also has an animal center which includes a SPF level animal laboratory and conventional animal laboratories. At the end of 2003, the Animal Experiment Center passed the review by Hubei Provincial Department of Science and Technology as well as Hubei Laboratory Animal Management Committee. In early 2004, the Animal Experiment Center was the first in Hubei Province to get the permit to use animals for experiments, and perform various animal studies. In 2008 Hubei Key Laboratory of Human Embryonic Stem Cells was approved.
Our research is focused on gene therapy and stem cell therapy of cardiovascular diseases, and PEP-1-mediated transduction of biological macromolecules. After years of unremitting efforts, it has put up a good technology platform and has established common experimental techniques of molecular biology, cell biology experimental techniques, isolated organ perfusion techniques, pathological and immunological techniques and whole animal experiments. It has laid a good foundation for postgraduate training. In the past ten years more than one hundred postgraduate students, teachers and doctors have performed their research projects, and also accepted several laboratory technicians for training. There is a long-term collaboration between Clinical Medicine Institute and University of Georgia.
The Clinical Medicine Institute assists in the hospital’s research work and creates a good academic atmosphere, provides a platform for experiments and technical support to develop talented and disciplined students.
